Appeal for information after man injured in Dublin shooting

GARDAÍ have appealed for information after a man was injured in a shooting in Dublin. The incident occurred at a residence in the Shancastle Close / Shancastle Avenue area of Clondalkin, Dublin 22 at around 9.15pm on Friday, December 20. Young woman dies in suspected hit-and-run in Co. Limerick

A YOUNG woman has died following a suspected hit-and-run incident in Co. Limerick. According to gardaí, the collision occurred at the entrance of a private property in Rathkeale at around 12.15pm on Saturday. Two men die in separate road traffic collisions in the North

TWO men have died following separate road traffic collisions in Northern Ireland. In the first incident, a pedestrian was fatally injured after a collision with a vehicle on John Street in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone at around 6.30pm on Friday. December 20, 1865

Maud Gonne McBride, Irish patriot, revolutionary and Home Rule activist, was born in Dublin on this day in 1865. Following her mother’s death, Gonne was sent to Paris for her education. When she returned to Ireland, Gonne moved to Donegal where she became involved in a campaign to protect people from home evictions. This was the start of her very active political career. She wrote articles on feminist and political issues and founded the revolutionary group, Daughters of Erin. However, she is best remembered as being William Butler Yeats’s muse, although she never returned his love.
