‘Dangerous predator’ jailed for multiple child sex offences

A ‘dangerous predator’ who targeted children has been jailed for multiple historic sex offences. Gavin Corcoran was charged with eight offences against minors after his victims came forward and revealed the abuse they suffered at his hands. Murder investigation launched after man killed in ‘violent assault’

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was found dead at a house in Greater Manchester. Free contraception scheme extension takes effect in Ireland at a cost of €48m

THE extension of free contraception to women aged 32-35 has taken effect in Ireland this week. From yesterday (July 1) the service, which provides free contraception options to women across the country, was expanded to include those up to the age of 35. Ireland’s Crown Jewels are found missing on this day in 1907, just before days before a state visit by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The theft remains a mystery to this day. Arthur Vicars, Officer of Arms at Dublin Castle, held the jewels in his office and publicly accused his second in command, Francis Shackleton. Shackleton was exonerated and the case was never solved. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle used this historical event as the influence for his Sherlock Holmes story “The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans.”
