Soldier F to stand trial for murder of two men on Bloody Sunday

A JUDGE has ruled that there is sufficient evidence for a former British soldier to stand trial for the murder of two men on Bloody Sunday. ESB says 395,000 customers left without power following Storm Darragh

ALMOST 400,000 customers were left without power as Storm Darragh battered Ireland at the weekend. A further 48,000 were similarly affected in Northern Ireland at the peak of the outages. GARDAÍ have renewed their appeal for witnesses following a fatal hit-and-run in Co. Kildare last month. Kedagh Moore, 16, died at the scene of the collision on the R403 in Blackwood near Robertstown at around 12.30am on Sunday, November 10. George Russell, who went by AE, was born on this day in 1867 in Lurgan, Co. Armagh. An important and interesting figure in Ireland’s literary history, AE was a poet, journalist, painter and mystic. Raised in Dublin, he began an early friendship with W.B. Yeats. He worked for the Irish Agricultural Organization Society for many years and was the editor of their journal, the famous Irish Homestead, from 1905 – 1923. After this he focused primarily on his writing and art, through which he established a place in the Irish Literary Revival. He also helped to spearhead the theosophy movement in Dublin and features in the Scylla and Charybdis episode of Ulysses.
