THREE children were injured when two cars collided in Co. Derry. Police were called to the incident in Magherafelt at around 9pm on November 10. Police name man who died in Co. Tyrone collision

POLICE have named a man who died in a collision in Co. Tyrone this morning as 29-year-old Eoin Lynch from Castlederg. Hungarian police arrest Irishman in connection with death of American tourist

POLICE in Hungary say they have arrested an Irishman in connection with the death of an American tourist in Budapest. April 4 2007 marked a symbolic moment in relations between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Prior to a meeting at Farmleigh in Dublin, then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party Ian Paisley shook hands. The handshake received much attention, especially because Paisley had previously publicly commented that he would not shake hands in public with the Taoiseach until a political settlement had been reached in Northern Ireland. Ahern described the handshake as ushering in a “new spirit of friendship.”
