Irish-American heartthrob Mel Gibson is rumored to be “very interested” in Wolfgang Peterson’s newest undertaking. The director of The Perfect Storm has now set his sights on another nautical adventure – the story of Irish-born Sir Ernest Shackleton and the ill-fated Endurance expedition to Antarctica. Another tale of man vs. nature, with another Irish-American hunk in the lead – only this time the crew lives…

On the heels of the film The Talented Mr. Ripley, starring Matt Damon in the title role, comes Ripley’s Game, starring none other than the talented Pierce Brosnan. Based on one of Patricia Highsmith’s installments in the story of this nefarious character, the film is set to begin production in Germany and Italy this fall…

After his appearance in The General, Irish screen star Brendan Gleeson is set to play another gangster in Martin Scorsese’s $100 million production Gangs of New York, which is scheduled to start filming soon in Rome. In this role he plays an Irish American named Monk in New York City in the 1860s. His costars include Daniel Day-Lewis, in his first film in four years, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cameron Diaz…

The story of Ireland’s Prime Minister of Infamy is now on its way to the big screen with none other than that rascal Jack Nicholson considering the role of the scandal-plagued Charles Haughey, reports the Irish Examiner. ♦
