Daylight hasn't quite settled over north Co. Wicklow yet, but even at 8.30 a.m., this Monday is already teetering on the brink of total disaster. For three days now, 70mph winds and vicious rainstorms have bullied the eastern coast of Ireland into a state of rain-saturated submission. Over the weekend, local news bulletins have become little more than official damage reports: … [Read more...] about Back Home with Pierce Brosnan

"I've never had an experience like it, nor will I ever again, it stays with you forever." It was during the 2020 lock-down that Scottish actor Jack Lowden handed a copy of Amy Liptrot's 2016 memoir The Outrun to his then-girlfriend Saoirse Ronan telling her "This should be your next role". The pair had met when filming Mary Queen of Scots (2018) with the Bronx-born Dubliner … [Read more...] about Saoirse Ronan in The Outrun

Pierce Brosnan was born in Navan, County Meath. He was brought up by his grandparents and aunt, while his mother worked in England. At 11, he moved to England to join his mother. In an interview with Irish America in 2003, he described it as a difficult transition. He was singled out for being Irish in school. “There certainly were fights,” he said, but the experience made him “resilient.” Brosnan left school at 15 and trained with the circus. Later he was introduced to the Oval House Theatre Club in London. He studied at the Drama Center in London. In 1980, he moved to the United States to star as Rory O’Manion in The Mangans of America, a hugely popular TV series. In 1994, he became the fifth James Bond.
