A NEWLY discovered photograph of Irish author Oscar Wilde before he found literary fame will go under the hammer this month. The Dublin-born writer features in a group photograph taken in 1876 when he was a student at Oxford University’s Magdalen College. Two men arrested in Scotland in Nicholas Gordon murder investigation

TWO men have been arrested in Scotland in connection with the investigation into the murder of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Gordon. Mr Gordon died days after he was assaulted by intruders at an apartment building in Belfast last week. ‘Racist abuse’ of Dublin Rose condemned by Festival CEO

THE Rose of Tralee festival has condemned racist abuse directed at the newly crowned Dublin Rose. Suad Mooge was chosen as the 2026 Dublin Rose following a selection event held this month. On this day, Eamon de Valera abolished the Oath of Allegiance, a provisional aspect in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921. This provisional aspect originally required all members of the Irish parliament to take an oath declaring their allegiance to the King. This date also marked when de Valera withheld land annuities from England.
